Bookish August Wrap-up

Fun story, but it's aimed at young readers.
Sorcery of Thorns - Margaret Rogerson
It was fun, but romantasy YA is not my thing. Elisabeth is a fun protagonist - and I really like how her abilities come from circumstance and not because she's the chosen one - but I didn't care about Nathaniel's tragic backstory at all. The world building felt wobbly - medieval in the library, Victorian when out in society.
Daredevil: The Man Without Fear - Frank Miller
Nice origin story, although I found Matt’s motivations a little muddled at times.
Wolverine: Weapon X - Barry Windsor-Smith
An harrowing look at Wolverine’s origins.
Pretty Little Wife - Darby Kane
Lila finds out some unsavoury things about her abusive husband and decides to kill him. Things go wrong when the body isn’t found like it was supposed to and it becomes a missing person case. Unfortunately, Lila has some secrets of her own she rather didn’t come to light.
This is a fun thriller, with some nice twists. Loved that both the main suspect and the detective are two level-headed, competent women. Makes for a different type of cat and mouse game.
